YOUTH – INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
What can youth volunteers do for Habitat?
Construction Volunteer (16 years
and older):
Although our home sponsors are the first to be scheduled for
weekend work crews, each Saturday we schedule a few individual
volunteers so there are opportunities for youth ages 16-17 to
spend a day on-site helping to build a Habitat house. Please
note that a sponsoring adult must accompany every two youths
on-site.
Your church or religious organization may already be working with
Habitat---check in with your youth leaders to find out. Or, you can
get your club, school organization, or other interested group
involved. Check out our Youth
Group Volunteer Opportunities (ages 11-17) for details.
Site
Host (16 years and older):
Greet the construction volunteers early Saturday morning at the
work site and gather contact information from them. Stay on to
help build if you want (16 & 17 yr. only). Minimal time
commitment, 1½ - 2 hours on the weekend. Work as often as you
like or just 4 times during the course of the build. 6-8
positions open for Girard Ave project. It’s a great way to meet
our partner families and site supervisors and see the houses
from start to finish!
Habitat Youth (High School
Students):
This
new program
includes students from high schools spanning Hunterdon and
Somerset Counties who have joined together to advance the
Habitat mission by helping to sponsor and build a Habitat house
Students from each high school send representatives to meetings
of the Habitat Youth Council, which coordinates build days,
fundraising efforts, and awareness-building activities. Habitat
Youth is currently helping to sponsor one of our Girard Avenue
homes. More high schools are welcome! For more information,

Habitat Youth
Mailing
Helpers (11 years and older):
Help the Habitat office with bulk mailings. Several times a year
you can take a box of mailing pieces home to fold, stuff, label
and seal. Then just return your box within a week.
Habitat Home
Helpers (any age): This program
provides several ways you or your group can help our
organization and the Partner Families. To read complete
information, go to
Habitat Home Helpers.
-
Purchase and present a package
of low cost, useful items to our new homeowners to help them

Site or Home Dedication Ceremony, special community
