CURRENT STAFF& VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

PAID STAFF OPPORTUNITIES
RVHFH is a leanly staffed organization.  All staff members are modestly paid and deeply committed to advancing the mission of Habitat in the community.  Staff members work closely with volunteers to fulfill their responsibilities and meet the organization’s objectives.  Current staff needs include:

Operations Director: (Full-Time Paid Staff with benefits)
Overall responsibility for the administration of the organization. The Director must be dedicated to the ministry and mission of RVHFH, and must have the ability to organize and manage multiple program areas simultaneously. See full job listing at bottom of page.

Construction Site Supervisors: (Part-Time Paid Staff)
Provide on-site supervision for volunteer construction crews.  Position requires significant residential construction experience and ability to teach and supervise unskilled volunteers. See full job listing at bottom of page.


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Much of the work of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) is accomplished by volunteers who are organized into various committees focused on specific activities.  The needs of each committee are identified by the Committee Chairperson and posted, from time to time, on this page. In addition to these specific needs, there are always opportunities for individuals willing and able to contribute substantial time and talent.

Like any organization there is a learning curve for new volunteers. It is suggested that those interested attend a Volunteer Orientation Session, join a committee and attend regular meetings to get familiar and comfortable with the organization.  Please see the Events page for the next Volunteer Orientation.

The following are specific volunteer needs identified by committee chairs at this time:

Church Relations
Church Liaisons: Represent RVHFH at church meetings and fairs (2-4 people)
Telephone Follow-Up: Contact churches after mailings (2-6 people)
 
Family Selection
Spanish Translator: Assist with Family Orientation Meetings and Selection Process
General Members for Next Selection Process – September 2007 (2-6 people)
 
Family Support
Partner Family Liaisons: Assist w/decisions & questions, track “Sweat Equity Hrs”  (4 people)
 
Fundraising
Event Planning: Join the Spring 2008 Dinner Dance & Auction Committee
Women Build: Committee members needed to launch FULL House Sponsorship program
Youth Build: Join the team of leaders from area high schools & help reach the Goal of $20K
 
Public Relations  
Photographers: Take photos at dedications, special events, & workdays (4 people)
Website Support: Create content & increase traffic to RVHFH site (2 people)
 
Site Selection  
Site Research & Prospectors for Hunterdon County: Discover & evaluate prospective sites

Desktop Publisher:
Design promotional pieces, fliers, brochures and presentations, & update current manuals
 
Writers:
Create exciting articles, web content, brochures, marketing campaigns and press releases

Operations Director
(Full-Time Paid Staff)

Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) is a non-profit
Christian housing ministry that builds affordable housing for
hardworking, low-income families in Somerset and Hunterdon
counties. We are now working to increase our home-building capacity
 from 4 homes per year to 8 homes per year. The Operations Director
will play a key role in helping us to achieve this objective.

The Operations Director has overall responsibility for the administration
of the organization. The Director must be dedicated to the ministry and mission of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity, and must have the ability
to organize and manage multiple program areas simultaneously.

Requirements:
• At least ten years of progressive management
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with developing and managing organizational budgets
• Working knowledge of MS Office

This is a full time position with benefits.

• Operation management of programs, services and activities

• Administration of organization
• Fiscal management
• Personnel management
• Board and volunteer relations

Construction Site Supervisors
(Part-Time Paid Position)
Responsible for directing on-site construction activities of Habitat residential housing on one or more sites. Trains and supervises volunteers and crew chiefs, is the affiliate's primary monitor of safety and construction quality,
and serves as construction technical advisor to the Building Committee
and Construction Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have some residential construction experience,
an ability to teach and supervise volunteers, and subscribe to the
ministry and mission of RVHFH. 

TIME REQUIREMENTS: These are part time positions, requiring site supervision on one to three days per week (including Saturdays). Attends monthly evening Building Committee Meeting.
