RVHFH is a leanly staffed organization. All staff members are
modestly paid and deeply committed to advancing the mission of
Habitat in the community. Staff members work closely with
volunteers to fulfill their responsibilities and meet the
organization’s objectives.
Construction Site Supervisors:
(Part-Time Paid Staff)
Provide on-site supervision for volunteer construction crews.
Position requires significant residential construction experience
and ability to teach and supervise unskilled volunteers.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Much of the work of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) is
accomplished by volunteers who are organized into various
committees focused on specific activities. The needs of each
committee are identified by the Committee Chairperson and posted,
from time to time, on this page. In addition to these specific
needs, there are always opportunities for individuals willing and
able to contribute substantial time and talent.
Like any organization there is a learning curve for new volunteers.
It is suggested that those interested attend a Volunteer Orientation
Session, join a committee and attend regular meetings to get
familiar and comfortable with the organization. Please see the
Events page for the next Volunteer Orientation.
The following are specific volunteer needs identified by
committee chairs at this time:
Church Relations
General Members: Reach out to churches
introducing them to and helping them discover the best
way to work with RVHFH Presentation Materials: Develop
presentation material including slide show, PowerPoint,
tri-fold and Gift Fair Board
Family Selection
General Members: Learn our selection process in
preparation for our next selection process
Spanish Translator: Assist with Family Orientation
Meetings and selection process
Family Support
Homeowner Liaisons: Assist current homeowners as need
arises
Partner Family Liaisons: Mentor & assist with decisions,
questions, and track “Sweat Equity Hrs”
Fundraising
Events: Run a fundraising event with the help of your
church or any organization
Habitat Youth Council: High School Students: Join the
team and help build houses!
Devils Hockey Charity Classic: Make this March 2010
event a success
Spring Dinner Dance: Join the committee for the April
2010 Dinner Dance & Auction
Habitat 5K: Join the committee for this October 2010
event
Women Build (WB): Join this team to fund & build our
next WB House (2010-2011)
WB Day Support: Supply lunch for WB workdays with the
help of your church or organization Human Resources
Construction Site Hosts: 2 hours Sat AM (or stay &
build) once every 4-6 weeks
Office Volunteers: Help with general office tasks 2
hours a week or a varied schedule
Donor Recording Manager: Attention to detail &
proficiency in excel required (4-6 hrs a month)
Public Relations
Graphic Artists & Photographers: Make our marketing
materials and events memorable!
Speakers & Booth Volunteers for Events: Represent RVHFH
and educate others
Website Support: Help create content and increase
traffic to RVHFH site
Writers: Create exciting articles for newsletters,
brochures and press releases
Technology Working Group
Technology Group Leader: Assess our current/future needs
and make them a reality
Equipment Research: Replacement of phone system and
various printers
Software/Hardware Upgrades: Assess, purchase and install
any new software and hardware
Website Tech Support: Troubleshoot Front Page, create
forms, enhance PayPal capabilities

Construction Site Supervisors
(Part-Time Paid Position)
Responsible for directing on-site construction activities of Habitat residential housing on one or more sites. Trains and supervises volunteers and crew chiefs, is the affiliate's primary monitor of safety and construction quality,
and serves as construction technical advisor to the Building Committee
and Construction Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have
some residential construction experience,
an ability to teach and supervise volunteers, and subscribe to the
ministry and mission of RVHFH.
TIME REQUIREMENTS: These are part time positions
for site supervision at 1-5 days per month (including
Saturdays). Attends Wednesday afternoon Building Committee Meeting.
