So many ways you can help to build a home!
In whatever capacity you decide to volunteer, with whatever time you have available to give, please know that we are grateful for all of the work that you can do to support this important mission to build simple, decent, affordable homes.
The typical RVHFH project is the new construction of an approximately 1100 square foot house. Volunteers contribute to all phases of the work from basic framing to final finish and trim. A Site Supervisor works with the volunteers to make sure they know how to do the work correctly and safely. This is an opportunity to work with a welcoming crew of volunteers, learn new construction skills, and gain the satisfaction of working with a family who will have the once in a life-time opportunity to own their own home. Volunteers need no prior experience although skills and construction knowledge are greatly appreciated and valued.
Saturday Work Crews
Saturday work days are reserved for individual volunteers. Between 12 and 15 volunteers are scheduled for each Saturday and work under the direct supervision of a Site Supervisor. All necessary tools and materials are supplied No experience is required only a willingness to learn.
Every Wednesday and Thursday a dedicated group of between 10 and 15 individual men and women come together to work on all aspects of building a Habitat house. Volunteers can work either Wednesday or Thursday or both on a flexible basis as their time allows. New volunteers are always welcome to join this enthusiastic, hard working crew. Check out our Volunteering FAQs for more information and Current Projects to see where we are currently working.
