Volunteer Orientation Meeting

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. With a small staff, RVHFH relies on volunteers to carry out a wide range of tasks, from construction to family support to public relations to accounting. No matter what your background, you may have a skill, hobby or interest that would be valuable to RVHFH!

At these periodic Volunteer Orientation Meetings we will present an overview of the RVHFH committees and current volunteer opportunities for those wishing to join the team.

"Make a Difference Day" FAMILY BUILD
Bridgewater Location - October 22, 2011

Couples, parent/teen (at least 16), or the whole family (only those 16 or older) can join Raritan Valley Habitat for our first "FAMILY BUILD Day". It is purposely scheduled on October 22, the Nationwide Make a Difference Day because families can make a real difference in the lives of our future homeowners.

The idea of a family build day came after the success of our Women Build program. The women, sisters, mothers, daughters have been enjoying these special days for 6 years. Women wanted to share the experience with their sons and husbands. We are looking forward to working with father/daughter, mother/son, husband/wife, etc. teams to raise funds for our Women Build program.

Each participant must register online and raise at least $50 in pledges. This is easy to do by creating your online fundraising page. You may have a "family fundraising page" as long as you raise $50 per person and remember to register all participants separately. Then come have a fun and rewarding day building homes with your family for other families.

A hard copy of a pledge sheet is also available for those who prefer not to do online fundraising by clicking the pledge sheet link. OFFLINE PLEDGE SHEET

Global Village Trip - Lachoochee, Florida

What is Global Village?
Habitat for Humanity International’s Global Village trips gives participants a unique opportunity to become active partners with people of another culture. Team members work alongside members of the Pasco County community, raising awareness of poverty housing and building decent, affordable housing. As partners, team members help build a true “global village” of love, homes, communities and hope.

Join Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco as they host their first ever Global Village project!
They will be building in a very needy community this upcoming year, and they need the help! In the small town of Lachoochee, FL there are homes without water and electric, you can see people outside huddling around bon fires and going to the bathroom in their backyard since their home doesn’t have plumbing.

They are hosting their first GV Team April 29 – May 9th. Since this falls on National Women Build Week, the participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Women Build during their stay. Please check out our trip information and pass it along to anyone who may be interested.
