COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity is ready to work as a partner
with any organization willing to share our mission of constructing
modest housing for low-income families in Somerset and Hunterdon
counties.

Community Organizations
As a Habitat community partner, your group can make a positive
contribution by helping to address the chronic shortage of
affordable housing in our area. But the experience is never
one-sided. Working together to sponsor a Habitat house can be both
enjoyable and deeply rewarding. The experience draws people
together, builds team spirit, and provides the satisfaction of
knowing you've made a real difference for a deserving family.
Whether you represent a civic group, social or service club, or
professional organization, we are willing to design a partnership
program that suits the needs of your members. Our
Business Partnership and
Church Partnership sections
describe how some of these arrangements work. Our partners typically
promise to sponsor a construction project by providing cash, donated
materials and services, and volunteer labor. We are willing to
discuss a level of support that seems right for your group.
RVHFH, in return, takes responsibility for organizing the project at
every stage from finding a suitable building lot, to scheduling
volunteer work days, to completing the sale of the finished house to
a hard-working partner family.
For more information about our work, or to talk about how your
community organization can partner with us, please contact us at

Volunteers section.
Local Governments
Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity can help local governments meet
their obligation to provide a fair share of low- and moderate-income
housing under the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH). However, as
a non-profit builder, RVHFH is often outbid when competing to buy
improved lots.
Municipal officials can help RVHFH find land and rehab opportunities
by looking at properties they own. Many of these properties have
title issues, are non-conforming, or are environmentally or
physically constrained. RVHFH professionals have experience in
resolving title and easement issues, and in dealing with constrained
lots and unique infrastructure requirements. RVHFH has found that
municipalities can convey lands to a non-profit organization without
going through the public bid process.
Another way local officials can help our work is by providing clear
guidance on required waivers or variances before our resources are
spent on land acquisition.

RVHFH, please contact us at (908) 704-0016 or
